Universite Paris-Sud, Orsay, France

Laboratoire de Physique des Solides at University of Paris 11 is a Marie-Curie Training Site on "Emergent Phenomena in Condensed Matter Physics".

The group of Prof. Dominique Langevin is specialized in the study of (i) surfaces in soft matter and biological sciences, and (ii) soft nanoparticle systems (liposomes, microemulsions etc.). She is directeur de recherche at CNRS and has also many links with the EU. She was expert on the Physics Panel (TMR program), she has coordinated a European network (HCM program) and was associated to many others. She has participated in many evaluation committees in France and abroad (presently an EU network of excellence). She has received several prizes (a grand prix de l'Académie des Sciences, the Gentler Kastler prize, the L'Oreal Unesco Women in Science award) and the silver medal of CNRS. D. Langevin has collaborated several times with L'Oréal, through a PhD and a post-doctoral fellowship on the surface behaviour of the lipids used in niosomes (synthetic liposomes), and on AFM studies of the hair surface, aimed to clarify wetting at a microscopic scale.
