Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine (NIOM), PolandNIOM is the leading research institute in the field of occupational and environmental health in Poland, having status of WHO Collaborating Center. NIOM maintains links with many international institutions (ICOH, MEDICHEM, IARC, EUROTOX).
In 2001 the EPIMOL Center (Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Epidemiology of Occupational and Environmental Cancer) was founded. Scientists from EPIMOL Center are actively involved in 4 European and numerous national research projects. EPIMOL Centre is a Coordinator of ECNIS Network of Excellence (Environmental cancer risks, nutrition and individual susceptibility) formed by 24 partners from 14 European countries. Prof. Konrad Rydzyński is President of The Polish Society of Toxicology (since 2002), and a Director of the Executive Committee of The International Union of Toxicology (since 2001). He is Vice-Chair of the Advisory Group for European Union 6th Framework Program Priority Area 5 “Food Quality and Safety” DG Research (since 2002). He is a Member of the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks, DG SANCO (since 2004), Task Group for Nanotoxicology. He was the founder and Head of The National Centre for Alternative Methods (1995-2000) and a Member of The Biological Effects of Low Level Exposure (BELLE) Advisory Committee, USA (since 2000).
