Prof. Colin R. Janssen is professor of Ecotoxicology at Ghent University, Belgium, and director of the Laboratory for Environmental Toxicology, Department of Applied Ecology and Environmental Biology at the Faculty of Applied Biological and Agricultural Sciences. He is the holder of the honoury Chair Bauchau at the Univeristy of Namur, Belgium. He was a member of the Publication Advisory Committee and the Metal Advisory Group of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (1997-2002). He is President of the International Society of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety. He was/is editorial board member of Environmental Pollution and Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety. He is a full member and chair of the Ecotoxicity group of Belgian Health Council and acts as external advisor to various national environmental agencies and international organizations such as OECD, EU and WHO. He provides independent scientific advice to these organizations on fundamental scientific and regulatory issues concerning quality criteria setting and risk assessments of new and existing substances.
